Arthur Glen Aycock of Hayes, died at his home on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the age of 80 surrounded by family. Glen was born in North Carolina on July 10, 1943 to the late Charlie and Ruby Aycock. He graduated from the Newport News Apprentice School, was president of his class, and was chosen Athlete of the Year by the school. He worked as a hull designer at Newport News Shipbuilding, Gibbs and Cox, and Rosenblatt. He was a member of the Abingdon Ruritan Club. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching football, and cooking his barbecue. Glen is survived by his loving wife, Paulette Aycock; two children, Kimberly Stefanick (Jay) of Yorktown, and Chris Aycock (Becky) of Mechanicsville; four grandchildren, Braeden Aycock, Alexis Stefanick, Bailey Aycock, and Emma Stefanick; a brother; Charles Lee Aycock, and three sisters, Faye Barracks, Linda Miller and Janice Smith, along with many wonderful nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends at Severn Church on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 1-2 p.m., followed by a service in the chapel, conducted by Pastor Bill West to begin at 2 o’clock.
