An afternoon of art, stimulating conversation and light refreshments await art enthusiasts this weekend at the Edge Hill House.
Betty Dovel is sponsoring her first art show from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Edge Hill House on Gloucester Main Street. The show will feature Gloucester resident Lawrence Hollingsworth, a nationally acclaimed artist, and up-and-coming oil painter Mollie Spencer Walsh.
Walsh has spent the last month with Dovel in Gloucester leading up to the show. She currently lives in Lynchburg, but is originally from Pungo, a rural community south of Virginia Beach. She has moved around a lot since her childhood, having lived in more than seven states.
“I am a very nature person, having grown up by the [Chesapeake] Bay,” she said.
