Members of the Middle Peninsula Amateur Radio Club, under the leadership of Dean Marzocca, will deploy antennae on Saturday morning at Abingdon Park in preparation for the club’s participation in the American Radio Relay League’s annual Field Day event. Club members will operate under simulated emergency conditions for a full 24 hours beginning in the early afternoon and ending on Sunday. Once more they will attempt to successfully contact the International Space Station hams as they did last year from the parking lot. This event is being held to demonstrate the role that ham radios can play in emergencies when normal communication links fail. The public is invited to attend and participate in this demonstration.
