Steve Bing starts to clear the roads at Liberty Square in Mathews, starting with the sheriff’s office access, as the county woke up Wednesday to another snow day—about one inch fell overnight. Icy conditions and continued subfreezing temperatures resulted in closing of county schools and offices on Wednesday. So far January has brought about five inches total, after several years of no measurable snow.
