Annie Ruth Lewis, 90, (formerly of Mathews, Va.) passed away peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Lorien Health Services in Elkridge, Md. Annie Ruth was the daughter of the late Charlie and Margaret Payton of Redart, Va.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie L. Lewis; son, Larry L. Lewis (Patricia); brother, Richard W. Payton (Jacqueline), and sister, Betty A. Payton. She leaves to celebrate her memories, two daughters, Linda Newsome (James Larry) and Robin Lewis; five grandchildren, Nicole Newsome, Tiffany Gaskins (Christopher), Kayla Newsome, Jeffrey Lewis, and Christopher Lewis; and one great-granddaughter, Nyla; one sister, Hilda A. Wright (Stephen), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Guilford, 7504 Oakland Mills Road, Columbia, Md. 21046 on Monday, March 20, 2023, from 10-11 a.m. with service to begin at 11 o’clock, conducted by the Pastor, Rev. Tyrone P. Jones IV. Services will be livestreamed. A viewing will also be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at First Baptist Church, 9654 Buckley Hall Road, Mathews, Va., from 10 a.m.-noon. Masks are required at both locations. Internment at Trinity Church Kingston Parish Cemetery, Foster, Va.
