Annette Callis Brooks, 76, born on Gwynn’s Island, Virginia, December 31, 1946, passed away on October 26, 2023, in Waynesboro, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Erma Callis, and husband, James Brooks.

Annette is survived by her two children, Douglas Respress (Ashton) and Chris Respress (Charlene); her brothers, Richard Callis (Diane) and Dale Callis (Lynne); her sister, Paulette Ewell (Robert); her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Annette lived in Waynesboro with her husband for almost 20 years. She had the opportunity to work in many fields during her lifetime but especially enjoyed working as a school bus driver for special needs children. Annette also spent her free time volunteering at her church and took pride in helping other people whenever she could. When not tending to her church and helping others, Annette loved crafting, and at one point in her life owned a crafting store.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at 2 p.m. for family and friends at Gwynn’s Island Church of the Nazarene.

Annette will be truly missed by her family and friends, along with her 2 faithful furry friends, Morkie and Princess. A special thank-you to Glenna and Raymond Campbell, Annette’s special friends, for their presence, kindness, and support to Annette and the family.
