Anne Abernathey Henshaw was a joy to everyone who knew her. She died on March 3, 2012 at her residence of the last three years, Elmcroft Assisted Living in Richmond, Va.
She was born May 6, 1929 in Gloucester, Va. She was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Sarah Lewis Abernathey. She resided in Richmond for 38 years before returning to Gloucester.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William E. Henshaw Jr., and a daughter, Beverly Henshaw Wortham; four brothers, Charles Aaron, Ashley Clinton, Henry Wilson, and Herbert Leslie Abernathey, and two sisters, Virginia A. Heywood and Margery A. Hughes.
She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte H. Fadely, and her husband Thomas; two sons, Ellis W. Henshaw and wife Patricia, David W. Henshaw and wife Sandra; six grandsons, Steven and Daniel Fadely, David Wortham Jr., Michael and Kevin Henshaw, and Brian Henshaw; eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Also, two sisters, Bessie A. Emory of Gloucester, and Kathryn A. Lemmon of Natural Bridge, Va.; a brother, George W. Abernathey of Elk Creek, Va.; a sister-in-law, Opal B. Abernathey of Yorktown, Va., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Andrews Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Kerry Boggs officiated. Interment was in the Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Sandston, Va.
Memorials were made to the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 9030 John Clayton Memorial Highway, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
