Anita Joyce Williams, 68, of Gloucester, died at her home April 12, 2015.
Joyce was a faithful member of Severn Church, participated in the church choir and a member of Joyful Hands. Joyce loved all things of nature.
Her passion was her family. She enjoyed sharing meals with her family and friends and was a wonderful cook. She was always well dressed and very meticulous in her appearance. She was well loved and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bernard Williams, and parents, Edgar T. and Alice M. Childress, and brother, Edward L. Childress (Bugs).
She is survived by her children, Merecia Wiggins and husband Tommy, Dorinda Smith and husband Billy, Melvin R. Coates Jr. and wife Diana, Sharon Dowdle and husband Tommy, Annette Rigney and husband Nathan, Larry Williams and wife Tiffany and Jon Williams and wife Stacey; sisters, Jean Richardson, Mildred Walker and husband Melvin, Irma Summers and husband Jim, and Debra Richmond; brother, Johnny Childress and wife Maria; former husband, Melvin Coates Sr.; 19 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service conducted by the Rev. Bill West was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Severn Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday, April 14, 2015, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Virginia and special aide, Delores, for the loving care and support given to our mother.
