Animal Jam

A packed house turned out at Southwind Café in Mathews on April 6 to have some fun, listen to music, perform a little karaoke and help out a good cause. Animal Jam was a benefit for the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society and organizers Jon and Kristen Ober and Chris Brock of Southwind, from left, helped collect $1,050 and a generous amount of dog and cat food, treats and toys. “All of this is going straight to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society to help out with the homeless pets,” Jon Ober said. “The last time we did this was in 2011 when we held the fundraiser a few times during the ‘Thursday Night Open Mic Jam Night’ at Southwind,” he added. Another Animal Jam is in the works, Ober promised.
