The Animal Care Society raised $533 over the holidays with its “St. Francis Giving Tree” holiday fundraiser, which was held at the organization’s Potpourri Shoppe in Mathews. The funds are earmarked to help cover adoption and spay/neuter costs at the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society. As part of the fundraiser, a $25 gift certificate to Aldi’s was awarded to donor Steve Pope, whose name was drawn from a pot. Shown giving the certificate to Pope is Mary Stephens, president of the Animal Care Society. Also pictured is Pope’s granddaughter, Oona Mae Pope.
