Sculptor Pat Andrews is the December Artist of the Month at the Bay School Community Arts Center, Mathews.
Andrews has been interested in multiple art forms since middle school, learning oil painting from his grandmother and woodworking skills from his grandfather. He then explored different media, such as ceramics, woodworking, drawing, and metalworking.
As a parent, Andrews said his goal was to teach his children to develop the same appreciation for art in all its forms. Teaching his children these skills allowed him to renew his love for art and to branch out artistically.
“I have learned to look at a piece of material, and in addition to seeing it for what it was, seeing what it could become,” he said. “I believe that is a primary goal of art.”
