Ailsa Braid Carter, 81, of Hayes, died April 3, 2014 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.

Ailsa was a retired Nursing Supervisor from Eastern State Hospital. She was a kind, generous lady who was dedicated to caring for her patients. She enjoyed traveling and socializing with friends on the front porch of her home overlooking the York River. She loved her family and will be forever missed.

Ailsa was preceded in death by her husband, Render Paul Carter.

She is survived by her sons, David P. Carter and wife Rebecca, and Robert A. Carter and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Nicholas A. Carter and wife Jessica, Amanda Braid Butcher and husband Brian, and David P. Carter II, and a great-granddaughter, Aubree.

Graveside funeral service conducted by the Rev. Arthur L. Wolz Jr. was held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. Friends assembled at the cemetery.
