Agnes Phyllis Thompson of Virginia Beach, formerly of Gloucester, peacefully passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024, shortly before her 98th birthday. She was born on March 5, 1926 in Raub, North Dakota. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Adam Usselman, and Catherine Marquart; her six siblings; her son, Charles Thompson Jr.; her grandson, Sky Thompson who passed away at 17 months, and her husband of 73 years, Charles “Chuck” Thompson Sr. Agnes is survived by her granddaughter, Jeannette Langford-James, her husband Paul James, and great-grandchildren, Steven Douglas, and Joshua James and his wife Crystal James. Agnes traveled from the plains of North Dakota to the bustling city of Arlington, Virginia, where she found love with Charles Thompson and married on February 3, 1951. Agnes’s passion for teaching and her unwavering commitment to serving others through volunteer work is a reflection of her kindness and generosity. Agnes lived a remarkable life filled with love, joy, and dedication to her family and community. Her legacy will forever be cherished by those who knew her gentle spirit and warm heart. A service will be conducted by Father Gregory Kandt at The Church of Saint Therese, 6262 Main Street, Gloucester, Va. 23061, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at noon, followed by a reception. As we come together on Agnes’s birthday, let us celebrate her beautiful life, and remember the love, compassion, and laughter she brought to all who knew her.
