Gloucester County recently contracted with USG Water Solutions for the installation of an Advanced Metering Infrastructure system.
Utilities customers in the county may notice a vehicle bearing the USG Water Solutions name near their residence as company representatives begin to inventory current meters, a press release stated.
“This will be a new technology that we are pleased to be able to offer our utilities customers,” said Chris Dawson, Gloucester’s Director of Public Utilities. “Right now, we are inventorying all our meters, and will be deploying the new meters in the next 6 to 9 months.
“We’re excited for our utilities employees who spend about 25 percent of their time each month reading meters to be able to dedicate that time to making repairs on our infrastructure and improving our customer service,” Dawson said. “I am also glad we will now be able to realize in real time if we, or a customer, has a major leak in the water system and pinpoint exactly where the leak is.”
