ACS donates $25,000+ to animal groups in 2024

“We’ve had a good year here.”
Animal Care Society, an animal support group in Mathews, had a successful fundraising year in 2024, donating over $25,000 by the end of last year to various animal organizations, according to ACS president Mary Stephens. This is $3,000 more than what the organization was able to donate in 2023.
“Our sales have been pretty consistent,” said Stephens.
ACS sells items donated by the public in its store, The Potpourri Shoppe, located on Mathews Main Street, to raise funds for local animal groups. These items include dishes, clothing, jewelry, home items and much more.
“The donations come in every single week on a steady stream,” said Stephens.
Those who received donations from ACS last year include the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, Critters 4 U Rescue, Tri-County Pitbull Rescue, Noah’s Ark Animal Rescue, Gloucester County Friends of Animal Control, and Pawsitively Precious Adoptions.
