Absentee voting already underway for June 23 dual-party primary

Voters in Gloucester and Mathews counties will head to the polls on June 23 to participate in a dual-party primary—selecting a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate and a Democratic candidate for the 1st Congressional District.Democratic Sen. Mark Warner and Republican Rep. Rob Wittman are unopposed within their own parties and will be facing whoever wins in the two primaries in the November general election.
Before voting in the June 23 primary, people will need to choose in which contest they wish to cast their ballot. Because voters are already casting their absentee ballots due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Gazette-Journal is presenting at this time brief information about the three Republicans and two Democrats vying for their parties’ nominations.
