Abingdon Episcopal to honor Alisa Bohon

Abingdon Episcopal Church, White Marsh, will honor Alisa Bohon this weekend for 30 years of continuous service as Organist, Choirmaster and Director of Music.
Celebrations at Sunday’s 10:30 a.m. service will focus on the liturgy and music of the church. The musical selections, chosen by Bohon as among the most beautiful works sung by Abingdon’s mixed voice choir over three decades, will be incorporated in the customary service of Holy Communion.
The composers range from Palestrina through Handel and Herbert Howells to contemporary writers. All are welcome to join in this celebration; Abingdon’s doors are always open to those of all faiths or of none, a release stated.
The church’s regular full choir will be augmented by some former members, invited for the occasion, and will be accompanied by the custom-built Walker pipe organ and professional string players.
A reception will follow in the parish house to which all are welcome.
