A great blessing for Mathews. Found, a strata of soft water from 90 to 120 feet deep; anyone wishing a well can call on C.R. Diggs, Port Haywood, examine the water and Mr. Diggs will make contract with anyone at anyplace in the county for a well. Respectfully, H.E. Shimp.
The shad fishing being closed, and the most of the fishermen having taken up their traps, it seems as moonlight excursions are the order of the day, and it is nothing unusual to hear the merry laugh and joyous song, as it is wafted over the rippling waters by the evening breeze from some company of young people in some gasoline boat, sail boat or it may be a row boat, who are enjoying themselves upon the placid waters of Horn Harbor. That is right, my young friends; enjoy yourselves while you may, the year has but one summer and that may not be long. May your joys be much deeper than the waters upon which you float, and your sorrows as light as the spray up...
