Bandleader and drummer Jae Sinnett, at right, gave an intimate, afternoon master class in jazz to a full house on Sunday at Good Luck Cellars in Kilmarnock. He was accompanied by Weldon Hill on piano and his longtime bassist Terry Burrell, who helped him reveal the structure, improvisation and history of this uniquely American art form. During his Kilmarnock show, sponsored by the Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts, Sinnett announced the release of his 20th album, “Commitment,” and the creation of a nonprofit organization, Hampton Roads Jazz Incorporated, which will promote live jazz festivals in all seven cities of Hampton Roads and educate students of all ages, including through scholarships.
