A lifetime of service

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors recognized four members of the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department for length of service during the supervisors’ March 28 meeting, with board chairman David Jones presenting each with certificates and plaques. Jimmy Stewart, top photo, at left, was recognized for 60 years of service, while the other three, Kenny Garrett, Sammy Dutton, and Jimmy Hudgins, second, third and fourth photos from top, were recognized for 50 years of service each. Also recognized (not pictured) during the meeting were Kim Callis, chief deputy for the Commissioner of the Revenue, 15 years, and Jody Lewis Harvey of the Mathews Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, 30 years of service and retirement recognition.
