For 46 years Cindy Horsley of Gloucester, has been seated at her desk serving as Grant Administrator for the J. Edwin Treakle Foundation, a local philanthropic organization. But her excellent professional work has not hindered her love for baking.
“I didn’t learn to cook as a young child. My mother and grandmother didn’t want to have me in the kitchen. It was after Wayne and I were married that I started learning about cooking through trial and error until we could eat it,” Cindy said.
Her mother, Mary Bunting, gave her some recipes to start her and Cindy developed a love for baking. Pound cakes are her specialty. “I get out of regular cooking when I can.”
For years Cindy has been noted for her cake baking and has generously shared with family and friends. “I always baked the black walnut cake for my father.” For a good while Cindy’s baking went on without change, but then her regular electric mixer was pushed aside and replaced with a new KitchenAid.
