There was a grand party at the home of Mr. A.F. Miller last night. There was a large crowd assembled and the guests enjoyed themselves to their full limit. Mr. John T. Wilcox of Chicago, who is traveling in Mathews, was among the number and contributed much to the gayety of the evening by his humorous stories, witty remarks and fine singing. All departed at a late hour, thanking Mr. Miller for the night’s entertainment and asking him to have another such affair in the near future.
We are very glad to report Mr. Cecil Hurst, who has been ill with typhoid fever, is improving very fast.
Mrs. Julia Diggs returned to Norfolk again last Wednesday, where she is being treated by Dr. Driver. We hope, however, to see her well and in our midst again soon.
The weather being good, the people are busy getting ready for pound fishing.
