‘A Concert for Mathews’ to be held Oct. 7

Tenor Joel Grow will perform an evening of music at 7 o’clock on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Kingston Parish House, 370 Main Street, Mathews. He will be accompanied by Charles Lindsey Jr. of Richmond.
“A Concert for Mathews” will feature songs of faith, patriotic music, classical pieces and old-time favorites, said a press release. Admission is free, but free-will donations will be accepted to benefit Hands Across Mathews and the Kingston Parish Rector’s Discretionary Fund. A reception will follow the concert.
Grow spent over 30 years in New York City performing in opera, concerts and musical theater, said the release. He worked with such conductors as Robert Shaw, Aaron Copland and Robert Page, and appeared in the West Broadway Theater’s production of “Jekyll and Hyde,” directed by Broadway Drama Desk winner and Tony nominee Robert Cuccioli.
