While it’s not the graduation ceremony any of them envisioned just a few months ago, 93 Mathews High School seniors will step across the outdoor stage (shuttled in groups of 10 at a time) on Sunday afternoon to receive their diplomas, with their parents and friends watching from their parked cars.
Heading this year’s class is valedictorian Jennifer Taylor Wells and co-salutatorians Kristen Faith Frank and Matthew Kenneth Taylor.
Wells, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Wells of Cobbs Creek, led the class with a 4.55 grade point average. She plans to attend the University of Mary Washington.
Frank, the daughter of Glenn Grasso and Carol Frank of Port Haywood, ended her scholastic career at MHS with a 4.52 GPA. She will attend Virginia Tech.
Sharing the honor of co-salutatorian, also with a 4.52 GPA is Taylor. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Chad Taylor of Onemo, Taylor will be attending the University of Virginia.
