The Mathews VA250 Committee has received a $5,000 grant to work with the Bay School Community Arts Center on the installation of two LOVEworks signs in the county.
The impact grant was awarded by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, in partnership with the Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission. The program award is titled “Revolution of Ideas: LOVEworks Creation and Installation.” The award is a result of teamwork and cooperation of the county administrator’s office, the Bay School and the Mathews County VA250 Committee.
Two locations in Mathews have agreed to the use of their sites for the LOVEworks signs—Williams Wharf Landing and Oyster Seed Holdings on Gwynn’s Island. An open competition for artists to submit their designs has been announced, with a projected completion date of May 3, 2025. A ribbon cutting is planned, followed by a reception at the Bay School Community Arts Center.
