50+ entries in Market Days Home Goods show

The 2018 Mathews Market Days Home Goods Competition was a success with more than 50 items entered in seven categories, a 25 percent increase in participation over last year. Attendance was also about double that of last year, according to event organizer Cheryl Dale.
The winners in each category were:
Best of Show: Quilting—Pat Rawls of Foster (“Batik Sampler”); Food—Sandy Warhol of Hallieford (basil jelly); Embroidery—Barbara Frey of Port Haywood (tamari ball); and Knitting—Bobbi Hatton of Port Haywood (fisherman sweater).
First-, second- and third-place winners by categories were:
Quilting—1st, Pat Rawls (“Batik Sampler”), 2nd, Cheryl Dale of Mathews Court House (“Hoot Who?”) and 3rd, Louise Witherspoon of Port Haywood (“Darwin’s Dream”).
