The 2012 Gloucester High School varsity softball team, an Eastern Region semifinalist, saw five of its senior players graduate on June 2.
They included Donna DeBaun, who is headed to the U.S. Navy, three-sport athlete Colleen Lemay, who will attend Longwood University, and Peninsula All-District honorable mention catcher Rhiannon Miller, who will attend Virginia Tech with the hope of walking on to the ACC Tournament champion Hokie softball team.
Also leaving is four-year starter Taylor Distefano, who will attend West Virginia University. Distefano compiled a 45-5 career pitching record with a career ERA of .56. In her senior season, she went 10-0 with an ERA of 0.12. Both numbers rank second in the Virginia High School League record book.
