5 GHS wrestlers place in tourney

Gloucester High School wrestlers traveled to Henrico on Friday to compete in the Mills Godwin JV and Girls’ Holiday Classic. The Dukes saw five athletes place in the tournament.
Cameron Jones (106 lbs.) and Kenneth Hamilton (175 lbs.) each fought their way to final round. In the semifinals, Jones won by fall and Hamilton by a 16-1 technical fall. Both took home the silver for the Dukes coming up short in the championship round.
Also in the semifinals were Colby Morris (HWT) and Tony Walker (156 lbs.). Morris secured two falls earning a top four finish but lost by decision in the semifinal and finishing in fourth. Walker, wrestling her first matches ever, took advantage of the opportunity and finished fourth for the Dukes.
Senior Anna Plessinger (146 lbs.) earned back-to-back wins by fall to place sixth. Head coach Kyle Bell said her final match was one of the best matches of the day for the Dukes.
