Historic Garden Week in Virginia this year will include a one-day tour of homes in Mathews County on Saturday, April 18. The local tour is sponsored by the Garden Club of Gloucester, which has been involved with Garden Week and the overall beneficiary, the Garden Club of Virginia, for more than 90 years.
Open in Mathews County from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. will be four homes situated on the East River and its creeks: Weston Hall and Riverlawn on the river, Samarkand on Woodas Creek, and Palace Green on Put-In Creek. Guest cottages located at three of the homes will also be open.
Christ Episcopal Church on Williams Wharf Road is tour headquarters.
Tickets are now on sale at the advanced price of $35 at the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center, Up South and Brent & Becky’s Bulbs in Gloucester, and Little England Mercantile at Hayes. They may also be purchased online at vagardenweek.org.
