376 take part in Saturday’s 8K Run, 3K Run/Walk

A total of 376 entrants took part in Saturday’s 13th annual Gloucester 8K run and 3K run/walk, which was held on the roads around Gloucester High School. Proceeds support the Gloucester County Educational Foundation and the race itself was conducted by the Peninsula Track Club.
Ninety-seven runners entered the 8K with 76 finishing and 279 entered the 3K with 236 finishing. Awards in both the 8K and 3K went to the top three men and women overall, and the top three in each age group.
In the 3K the overall winners were 18-year-old Jason Hancock for the men (12:41) and 39-year-old Crystal Witte of Yorktown for the women (11:58). The top overall runners in the 8K were Nicholas Schuff, 28, of Hampton for the men (31:50) and 16-year-old Rachel Blittle of Gloucester for the women (38:59).
