More than 30 people took part in the 25th Beaverdam Canoe Jam, which was held on June 11 at the Beaverdam Park Reservoir, Gloucester. Conditions were perfect, as the lake surface was flat with temperatures hovering around 75 with a slight breeze to keep everyone cool.
Individual and paired canoe and kayak paddlers competed in Long Course (four miles) and Short Course (2 miles) categories. Additionally, event organizers conducted a 4-Person Fun Sprint this year.
Competitors and sponsors received T-shirts. Race Director Karla Havens thanked all the participants, volunteers and sponsors, saying she hopes to see them support next year’s event. She also singled out the Beaverdam Park staff for all of its support prior to and during the event. Winners were:
