This Saturday will mark the 25th anniversary of the Tour de Chesapeake, a premier bicycling event that annually draws hundreds of cyclists to Mathews County and offers activities for visitors and residents alike.
This year, the county is teaming up with the Mathews Visitor Center and Mathews Land Conservancy to host the tour, welcoming cyclists from around the state and beyond for a weekend of “flat scenic cycling, delicious local eats, toe-tapping music, and nice, down-home folks to help with whatever is needed,” said a press release from event director Lynda Smith Greve.
Friday registration
Cyclists will arrive for check-in and registration between 4 and 8:30 p.m. Friday at Thomas Hunter Middle School. They may also check-in and register between 7 and 10 the morning of the event.
Friday’s entertainment will be provided by Cap’n Dar, and TDC jerseys and 25th Anniversary T-shirts will be on sale, along with a variety of event merchandise. Several vendors will be on site as well, said t...
