The Virginia Peninsula Chamber, in partnership with Old Dominion University’s Strome College of Business, will host the 2024 Economic Forecast Mid-Year Breakfast on Friday, June 7 at the Holiday Inn Newport News-Hampton.
Economists from ODU’s Dragas Center for Economic Analysis and Policy will deliver their midyear forecast for 2024 from 7:30 to 9:30 that morning.
Dr. Robert McNab and Dr. Vinod Agarwal will reflect on the strengths of the national and Virginia economies while taking stock of the challenges that remain, including inflation, real estate (rentals and sales) and interest rates. They will examine the ’touchpoints’ of the economy, that is, housing, food, and fuel, to explore why consumer sentiment is relatively poor when compared to previous economic expansions.
