2 exhibits on display at Tappahannock art gallery

Two new exhibits are currently on display at the Rappahannock Art League Art Center at 19 N. Main Street, Kilmarnock.“Red is the Color of…”, in which each work incorporates the color of passion, and “All Shades of Grey,” which illustrates the impact art can make using only a grey scale, together include over 115 pieces of art, from drawings, paintings, and photographs to glasswork, stoneware, fiber arts, and sculptures.

During an opening reception on Feb. 5, show judge Sandy Manning presented first place in “Red is the Color of…” to “Roses Delight,” an oil painting by Gaye Merrill. Second place went to “The Zing of Heartstrings,” a glass piece by Laurie Breakwell, and third place was awarded to “Cardinal,” a stoneware vessel by Alicia Daily.
Honorable mentions went to 11 pieces: “Today’s Catch” by Bob Casazza, “Reedville Red” by Mel Neale, “William Cook AKA Washboard Bill” by Rick Seguso, “Rhino in Love” by Joy Bolger, and “Frosted Twilight” by Debbie Bull.
