2 exhibits on display at RAL Art Center, Kilmarnock

Two new exhibits, “You Be the Judge” and “Close-up and Personal” opened to the public on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at the RAL Art Center, located at 19 N. Main Street in Kilmarnock.
Fifty-four pieces of art, including ceramic art, drawings, fiber works, embroidery, paintings, pastels, photographs, and sculptures are on display. The artworks in these two exhibits, “You Be the Judge,” demonstrate the scope and breadth of the community of member artists of the Rappahannock Art League.
Not only do the works in the exhibit “Close Up and Personal” demonstrate this breadth, but they also illustrate that proximity can make all the difference in the viewers’ perceptions. These works invite you to come in close and find the details.
The viewers did just this at the First Friday reception on Jan. 3. The winners were not announced at the First Friday reception because a local judge did not judge these shows. Instead, the viewers are judging the art work, voting for a People’s Choice in both shows. The tw...
