120 seniors attend Mathews Triad Safety Fair

The Mathews Triad Senior Safety Fair was held on Tuesday, with 120 seniors in attendance who enjoyed everything from talks on safety to music, lunch, and door prizes.
Vickie Parker of AAA gave a talk on how seniors can keep their driving privileges; Diane Vogel led a session of Chair Yoga; Linda Hodges of the Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck Behavioral Health Center talked about the services offered by the agency (previously MP-NN Community Services Board); and Cynthia Holyfield-Cohen of the Veterans Administration spoke about veterans’ benefits.
Cpl. Sid Foster of the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office and Alice Stewart of Mathews Social Services gave the welcome, and Sheriff April Edwards and Major Patric Graham provided the county’s 2023 crime statistics.
Linda Johnson gave the invocation, American Legion Post 83 presented the colors, Foster led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Lynette Glockner sang the National Anthem.
Luncheon music was performed by Michele Thacker and J.A. Faulkner.
