Twelve students received their good-for-a-lifetime Boating Education Certificate in a U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 66 Boat Virginia class held Saturday at the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad building in Hudgins.
The certificate satisfies Virginia’s requirement that all operators of personal watercraft and motorboats of 10 horsepower or more pass an approved boating safety course, said a press release.
The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources-sponsored class covers such topics as operating a boat, the rules of the nautical road, the legal responsibilities of boaters, and what to do in an emergency.
