Marguerite “Maggie” DeVita of Cardinal reached a milestone of 102 years on April 19. Westville Christian Church of Mathews helped her celebrate on Sunday. The Rev. Timothy Dice, pastor of Westville, presented a sermon on aging and afterwards the congregation and friends celebrated with a luncheon for her, complete with a homemade four-layer cake by the minister’s wife Mary, some dancing by Maggie and others, and classic songs that meant a lot to Maggie, who continues to live independently.
