100 years of DMV celebrated at classic car show

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and to show appreciation for the community, DMV Commissioner Gerald Lackey has teamed up with the Colonial Rod Club to pull off three car shows, as well as a trucking exhibit at the Keystone Antique Truck and Tractor Museum in Colonial Heights.
The third show, on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be held at the York River Crossing shopping center in Hayes.
The Through the Decades: DMV Classic Car Show is open to all cars, light trucks and motorcycles. There is a $20 cash registration fee at the gate for those entering their cars, to vie for a trophy (some handmade) and plaque awards. There is no admission charge and free parking for spectators.
The event includes door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and dash plaques to the first 100 registered participants. Special appearances by the Hepcat Honeys and DMV mascot “Snap Dragon” are planned. In addition, Lackey will be at the show all day announcing, and l...
